Trying to Be Brave & Thanksgiving Plans

I had every intention of joining the book club. I really did.
I signed up. I told myself I would read.
I even bought the book, people. AND I read a few chapters.
Then book club seemed to fade into the background while I spent a weekend in the hospital with the 6-year old, dove deep into World Civilizations class (bo-o-o-ring), and did other stuff.
You know. Stuff.

And so the concept of trying to be brave went out the window with vowing to exercise more and drink less diet Coke.
But really, those diet soda studies are probably funded by milk and juice companies. Criminals.
I was still on the list to get the "Let's All Be Brave" emails, which means I glanced at the subject of the email, felt guilty for not reading, and pressed delete before diving back into the deep theological thought of how a boy can miss the toilet seat. Every. Time.
Annie's book, though, will make you wonder (trust me, as an expert who read the introduction and first chapter), are you trying to be brave?
Are you taking the class?
Are you praying with those small people?
Are you loving on your husband?
Are you forgiving, trusting, giving?
Are you saving, budgeting, pursuing?
Bravery looks so different for each of us. It is not measured by the size of the step, but in taking it.
Bravery for me this week looks like driving 15 hours across the desert to a home in Arizona, where we will join three of the four blessed brothers with wives and loud kids and lots of food. After last year's wedding, the husband swore a trip of that many hours would not happen ever again.

But they're such a good looking group. Who could say no?
